The Department of English Studies at the University of Freiburg (Germany) is advertising the following tenured full-time position: Lecturer on probation/tenured (f/m/d) (Akad. Rat*Rätin auf Probe/Lebenszeit) Applied English Linguistics

Description

The position involves a teaching load of 6-7 classes per term (9,75 weekly contact hours), but also offers room for research. Applicants are expected to hold a top-quality PhD degree preferably in or relevant for applied English linguistics (e.g., on topic areas like acquisition and use of English as a Second or Foreign Language, L2 or learner varieties of English, EFL, TESOL, TEFL, English as a Lingua Franca, English in school, English linguistics in the classroom).

 

Furthermore, applicants are expected to look back on several years of teaching experience in applied English linguistics (possibly including didactic training for the teaching of English), and to exhibit a high level of corpus-linguistic and statistical expertise. Candidates must meet the requirements for appointment as civil servants in accordance with German law.

 

We encourage all applicants to submit an outline (2-3 pages) of ongoing or planned research or publication projects in one of the areas mentioned above.

The post is permanent. The salary will be determined according to salary grade A 13 used in the German public‑service system (for further information see https://lbv.landbw.de/documents/d/guest/3_besoldungstabelle-ab-01-02-2025).
