The University Advisory Board serves to connect the University of Freiburg with the city, region and society. Its members contribute their experience from a wide range of social areas to the University and support it in its tasks and goals. The members for the term ending in 2028 came together for their inaugural meeting on 5 May 2025.
The University of Freiburg has a new University Advisory Board. At the invitation of Rector Prof. Dr. Kerstin Krieglstein, the members for the term ending in 2028 met on Monday, 5 May 2025, for their inaugural meeting at the University of Freiburg’s Airport Campus. “The University’s connection to the city, region and society is very important to us – and the University Advisory Board plays a key role in this, as the inspiring first meeting has already shown,” says Rector Krieglstein. “I am very grateful to the members of the University Advisory Board for allowing us to benefit from their wealth of experience.”
The University Advisory Board is an advisory body at the University of Freiburg. Its role includes promoting understanding of the University’s responsibilities and needs and fostering links with the city, region and society. The University Advisory Board consists of nearly 100 regional representatives from society, politics, business and culture, who are elected by the University Senate upon the recommendation of the Rector, as well as University of Freiburg honorary senators.
“The University Advisory Board serves as a kind of sounding board for our tasks and goals in changing times,” says Krieglstein. “It supports the work of the University and brings questions and needs from society to its attention.” Its re-establishment is therefore an important part of the overall structure of the University of Freiburg’s ongoing dialogue with politics, business and society.
