The University of Freiburg is currently steering its future development and strengthening its long-term viability in two ways: through its overarching strategy Vision UFR 2040 and by participating in the federal and state Excellence Strategy.
Vision UFR 2040
How does the University of Freiburg position itself within academia and society, what are its objectives, and how does it plan to achieve them? The University of Freiburg sets all this out in its overarching strategy, UFR 2040. Representatives from all staff categories were involved in its development.
Excellence strategy
The University of Freiburg is applying for the title of ‘University of Excellence’ as part of the federal and state governments’ Excellence Strategy. In its application, “The Future Research University: Sparking Change That Matters,” the University sets out its aim to actively shape change in society, the economy and higher education policy through interdisciplinary research that provides direction, teaching that fosters critical thinking, and knowledge transfer that takes knowledge far beyond the campus.
