You decide how to receive advice.

As the first point of contact for current and prospective students at the University of Freiburg, the Advising and Counselling Team at the Service Center Studium provides free, confidential, and individualised advice on any issues that arise before, during, or after your studies. If you have special requirements, please let us know – together we’ll find the right solution.

In addition to individual advising, we offer events and workshops to support you during your studies: from self-organisation, learning strategies, and stress management to special offers for specific target groups.

Who is it for?
We recommend making an appointment for issues that seem especially difficult or emotionally taxing. It’s also a good idea to make an appointment if you will be travelling a long distance. For urgent matters, our open office hours are a better option. All advising sessions are confidential.

How does it work?
Please request an advising appointment via our online appointment request form .

Appointments are generally booked no more than three weeks in advance.
Depending on the topic of your advising session, our advisers may contact you beforehand to let you know how you can prepare for the session.

Who is it for?
The open office hours are an individual advising format suitable for issues of all kinds, especially urgent matters. There’s no need to make an appointment. If necessary, you can make an appointment for follow-up sessions with the adviser during your advising session. All advising sessions are confidential.

Please note that you may have to wait until one of our advisers is available.

Intercultural Mentoring Program

The Intercultural Mentoring Program (ICM) pairs first-year international students (mentees) with experienced students (mentors) according to subject. Find friends from around the world, get support, and participate in cultural events.
