The library will be undergoing routine inspections and technical maintenance during this time.
The University Library (UB) Freiburg will be closed all day on Wednesday, 1 October 2025, due to routine inspections and maintenance work on its technical equipment. This includes the emergency power generator, the fire alarm system, the lifts and work on the power supply. As in previous years, a siren test and loudspeaker check will also be carried out. This will involve major restrictions on use, which is why the UB will be closed to users for the entire day.
To ensure optimal conditions, the inspections and maintenance work must take place on a regular working day, among other things to guarantee the prompt availability of the service providers involved. In order to minimise disruption, a date during the lecture-free period was chosen. On that day, students will still have access to study spaces at the decentralised libraries of the University of Freiburg. In addition, the University Library’s web services will also be available during the testing phase. The University of Freiburg thanks the users of the University Library for their understanding and regrets any inconvenience caused by these measures.
