The University Library Freiburg will be closed all day on Thursday, 17 September 2026, due to scheduled maintenance work on its technical systems. During the closure, the University’s branch libraries can be used as study spaces. The University Library’s digital services will also remain available.
The maintenance work will cover the emergency generator, the fire alarm system, the lifts and work on the power supply. As in previous years, a siren test and a check of the loudspeakers will also take place.
To ensure optimal conditions, the inspections and maintenance work must take place on a normal working day, partly to guarantee the prompt availability of the service providers involved. To keep disruption to a minimum, a date during the lecture-free period has been chosen. The University of Freiburg would like to thank the University Library’s users for their understanding and apologises for any inconvenience these measures may cause.
