Regions threatened by nutrient deficiency

According to a study, people living in regions where agricultural production is heavily dependent on pollination by insects are three times more likely to suffer from micronutrient deficiencies. This was the conclusion reached by our German-American research team led by Alexandra-Maria Klein. The results were published in the journal Proceedings of the Royal Society B under the title “Global Malnutrition Overlaps with Pollinator-Dependent Micronutrient Production” and summarised in a press release from the University of Freiburg.
