Sustainable Materials, Biopolymers and bio-based materials

From recyclable material to raw material

Sustainable materials, biopolymers and bio-based materials play a crucial role in the transition to a more sustainable and environmentally friendly everyday life. The FMF conducts research into materials made from wood, polymers and composites. The aim is to optimise the material properties and adapt them to the necessary or desired requirements, e.g. self-repairing, adhesive, durable, foamable or recyclable. A completely different aspect is the processing and utilisation of animal waste or excrement for further use. Overall, sustainable materials, biopolymers and bio-based materials offer promising solutions for reducing environmental impacts throughout the entire life cycle, from production and use to disposal or reuse.
