Sustainable forestry in Germany is challenged in many ways. To name a few, these challenges include climate change, small ownerships, an aging workforce, and excessive bureaucracy. Additionally, there is the significant workload of regenerating over 500,000 hectares of dead spruce stands and adapting 25% of all forest stands to climate resilient species compositions. This session presents technical innovations including digitization, improved working techniques and supporting equipment for enhanced efficiency, safety, attractiveness of profession and reduced environmental impacts which have the potential to address some of these challenges, thus, contributing securing sustainable forestry in Germany.
