Curriculum Vitae<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

Dr. Friderike Beyer is a researcher and project leader at the Department of Spatial Structures and Digitization of Forests<\/a> at the University of G\u00f6ttingen. She developes a LiDAR-based assessment of ecosystem-related inventory data and analyses the above- and belowground structural complexity of forests.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Previously, she studied International Forest Ecosystem Management and Forest Ecology at the Eberswalde University for Sustainable Development, the University of G\u00f6ttingen and Oulu University of Applied Sciences in Finland. After her studies she was awarded a Carlo Schmid Program Fellowship by the German Academic Scholarship Foundation and worked for the Forestry and Timber Section at the United Nations Economic Commission for Europe (UNCEC) and the Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO) in Geneva, Switzerland. Next, she received her doctoral degree from the University of G\u00f6ttingen within the cluster of Excellence \u201cFunctional Biodiversity Research\u201d at the Department of Plant Ecology and Ecosystem Research. Since her PostDoc in Sweden at the Swedish University of Agricultural Sciences (SLU) in Uppsala she is actively working together with members of the tree diversity network (TreeDivNet<\/a>) on topics about biodiversity ecosystem functioning and was contact person for the tree diversity experiment here in Freiburg (IDENT). TreeDivNet is the largest network of tree biodiversity experiments worldwide. In total, over 1.2 million trees were planted in the currently 36 experiments on a total surface of ca. 900 ha. She was awarded a Margarete-von-Wrangell Fellowship at the Chair of Silviculture, University of Freiburg where she focused on the belowground dynamics of forests and agroforestry systems and the analysis of nature-based solutions and forest management for climate change adaptation and mitigation.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
