Field of research
Biological Signalling: We are interested in gaining fundamental understanding of how mechanobiology affects cellular function and uptake of information. Towards this broader goal, we are specifically interested in probing the role of cell-membrane stiffness and cell-surface mechanosensors in cellular function and trafficking of nanomaterials.
Functional & Bioinspired Materials: Nature is repository of engineering paradigms. Towards a framework for implementing naturally occurring polymers in high-performance applications, we are developing new approaches that combine bioinspired with old-world concepts to realize bio-nanomaterial composites whose performance is approaching that of degradable synthetic polymers.
