Advanced Postdoctoral Researchers: UFR | "lead & supervise"
The English-language programme lead & supervise is aimed at advanced postdoctoral researchers, group leaders, junior professors and tenure-track professors (Established Researchers/R3).
Two workshops will be offered in the summer semester of 2026:
Conflicts are part of everyday academic life—within teams, projects, and leadership roles. In this workshop you will develop a solid understanding of what conflicts are and why they arise. You will learn practical strategies for handling challenging situations constructively and with confidence.
The workshop aims to strengthen your personal conflict competence, helping you approach difficult conversations with greater self-assurance, recognize complex dynamics more clearly, and manage tensions professionally in an academic environment. The workshop is designed as a preventive format—not only for “big conflicts”, but also for everyday situations such as unclear expectations, recurring misunderstandings in collaboration, or tensions around feedback, roles, and priorities. It is designed for R3 researchers (advanced postdocs, junior group leaders, junior- and tenure-track professors and others with academic leadership responsibilities) who want to further develop their leadership and communication skills.

Leadership roles in early academic careers often emerge under conditions of uncertainty: expectations from research, supervision, team collaboration and institutional structures intersect while scholars simultaneously develop their own research profile. Many postdocs, junior professors and research group leaders already take responsibility for people and projects, even though their role as leaders is still evolving. International leadership programs in higher education show that effectiveness at this stage depends less on formal authority and more on clarity about one’s leadership identity, impact and voice within the system.
This interactive 3.5-hour workshop combines short conceptual inputs on the internationally established framework Leadership Identity Development (Identity – Impact – Voice) with structured peer reflection and case-based discussion. You will work with real situations from your academic context and explore how you can shape your role and influence more consciously within complex academic environments.
