Eucor – The European Campus

5 universities- 3 countries – 1 campus

Eucor – The European Campus is a trinational alliance at the heart of Europe comprising the Universities of Freiburg, Basel, Haute-Alsace and Strasbourg, and the Karlsruhe Institute of Technology. Together, these universities pool the expertise of their researchers, lecturers, doctoral candidates and students within a strong research and business region spanning France, Germany and Switzerland. The aim is to establish a clearly defined cross-border and competitive academic area with international outreach.

The alliance strengthens cross-border cooperation in research, teaching and knowledge transfer to society and industry, while promoting the mobility of students and staff from academia and administration within a European campus in the Upper Rhine region.

A model for Europe

Eucor – The European Campus is a pioneer in cross-border university cooperation in Europe. Since 1989, the member universities in the Upper Rhine region have been working closely together.

In 2016, the alliance became the first university network in Europe to adopt the legal form of a European Grouping of Territorial Cooperation (EGTC). This has transformed the long-standing network into a sustainable and operational structure with its own governance and joint strategy. A joint secretariat and coordination office support strategic and operational cooperation between the five member universities.
