Course and Exam Registration FAQs
Registration for the courses you want to attend in the upcoming semester is usually open during the last week of the previous semester and the week before the next semester begins. Registration for graded exams always takes place in the fourth week of the lecture period. For ungraded exams, you have until early January to register. (But it is recommended to register for both at the same time, so you don’t forget! :-)) During the registration periods, you can freely register or deregister for courses and exams. Deregistration from an exam for which you registered outside the registration period is more difficult. Exact dates may vary, so make sure to check them. More information can be found here.
Don’t forget to enroll for the next semester. Enrollment is possible from January 15 to February 15 for the summer semester and from June 1 to August 15 for the winter semester. This also takes place in HISinOne, where you can also set up automatic enrollment for each semester.
During the registration period at the end of the previous semester, you register for courses via HISinOne. A complete guide on how this works and what to consider can be found here. There are multiple registration periods, including a last-minute registration period where you can choose from courses not yet taken.
Exam registration also takes place in HISinOne. A full guide to exam registration can be found here.

When you enroll, the university automatically creates a university email address for you. For cybersecurity reasons (and also for personal organization and separation), it is recommended to use this for university communication. However, if you want to use your private email address for communication, make sure to update your contact details in HISinOne. A guide on how to access your university email and change your contact details can be found here.
The university provides students with a Microsoft Office license for up to three devices for €4.39 per year. Instructions on how to register and download the program can be found here.
The terms c.t. and s.t. refer to the start time of your courses. c.t. (cum tempore) is Latin and means “with time,” meaning your course starts 15 minutes later than the listed time. s.t. (sin tempore) means the course starts exactly at the time given in the description. In other words, if a course starts at 10 a.m. c.t., it actually begins at 10:15 a.m. If the description says 10 s.t. or 10:30 s.t., the course starts at 10:00 a.m. or 10:30 a.m., respectively.
