Visitor Information
The Department of Mathematics is located at Ernst-Zermelo-Straße 1 (formerly Eckerstraße 1), northwest of the city center in the university’s institute district. Locally, the building is still sometimes known as the former employment office.

- By train: Hourly services from Freiburg to Offenburg (change trains) to Strasbourg; Travel time: approx. 1 hour 10 minutes;
- By bus: Several daily direct connections (FlixBus);
Travel time: approx. 1 hour 10 minutes.
Freiburg is easily accessible via motorway from Basel, Mulhouse, Strasbourg, and Karlsruhe.

Exit: “Zubringer Mitte” – “City Center / University” – Route: Werthmannstraße – Rempartstraße. Parking: University parking garage. - Institute District
Exit: “Freiburg Mitte” – “Main Station”-Route: Schnewlinstraße – past main station – Stefan-Meier-Straße; Parking: Outside campus. - University Medical Center

Exit: “Freiburg Mitte” – “Main Station”- Route via Schnewlinstraße – Stefan-Meier-Straße -Rennweg – Habsburgerstraße – Schänzlestraße-Destination: Biology institutes & botanical garden. - Dermatology / Psychiatry Clinics
Exit: “Freiburg Mitte” – take the “Hauptbahnhof” exit – Schnewlinstraße – past the main railway station – Stefan-Meier-Straße – turn right at Rennweg and continue to Habsburgerstraße: turn right and then immediately left into Hauptstraße (clinics); parking: outside the institutes or clinics. - Rectorate
Exit: “Freiburg Mitte” – exit “Hauptbahnhof” – Schnewlinstraße, past the main station, turn right onto Friedrichstraße – Fahnenbergplatz, parking spaces: outside the Rector’s Office. - Student Housing
Exit: “Freiburg Mitte” – take the “Lehen/Universitätskliniken” exit – after approx. 2 km, turn left onto Sundgauallee; parking: near the student accommodation. - Sports Center
Exit: “Freiburg Mitte” – approx. 10 km towards Donaueschingen via Schwarzwaldstraße; Car parks: Sandfangweg. - Faculty of Engineering / Airfield
Exit: “Freiburg Mitte” – Exit “Messe Freiburg”.
By plane to EuroAirport Basel-Mulhouse-Freiburg, approx. 1 hour by bus (to Freiburg Main Station, then 5 minutes on walk). Either via FlixBus or Freiburg Reisedienst. Alternative airports Zurich, Strasbourg, Stuttgart or Frankfurt approx. 2–3 hours by train or car.
