Valentina investigates the interplay between sleep, memory, and conscious experience, with a particular focus on dreaming as a window into memory processing during sleep. To study these processes, she combines EEG with computational approaches including natural language processing and machine learning, allowing the quantitative study of the content of dream experiences and their neural correlates. Her research also examines why dream experiences differ across individuals, exploring the cognitive, affective, and clinical factors that shape dream content and recall.
