EPICUR Scholarships – Funding for Short Stays at Partner Universities
The EPICUR Scholarship provides financial support for students at the University of Freiburg to attend an EPICUR course at a partner university abroad. Funding is available for stays lasting between two and 30 consecutive days. This refers to the number of days spent attending the course. One arrival and one departure day can be included in the calculation. Students who are underrepresented in conventional mobility programmes are given special consideration.
EPICUR scholarships are available as grants for attendance at an EPICUR course lasting between two and 30 consecutive days at an EPICUR partner university abroad. The study visit must not fall under the traditional Erasmus+ mobility programmes. Students selected for an EPICUR scholarship will receive a lump sum in two instalments (one before and one after the stay), upon presentation of the relevant documents. This total consists of a travel allowance and a daily allowance.
The amount of the grant depends on the destination, distance and duration of the study visit, and is calculated from Freiburg:
| Destination | Travel allowance in euros (without Green Travel) | Travel allowance in euros (with Green Travel) |
| Amsterdam | 309 | 417 |
| Odense | 309 | 417 |
| Mulhouse | 28 | 56 |
| Poznań | 309 | 417 |
| Strasbourg | 28 | 56 |
| Thessaloniki | 309 | 417 |
| Vienna | 309 | 417 |
The daily allowance is based on the length of the attendance period: €79 (for up to 14 days) and €56 (for 15 days or more) per day.
Example: You are a student at the University of Freiburg who has applied for a blended learning course at BOKU in Vienna. The course takes place over the entire semester, mainly online, with two days of attendance in Vienna. Alongside your course application, you successfully applied for an EPICUR scholarship. Before your trip, you completed, signed and submitted the grant agreement. After your stay, you submitted the certificate of stay. You will receive the EPICUR scholarship in the following amount for travel by train (i.e. ‚green travel‘): a travel allowance of 417 euros + 4 daily allowances of 79 euros (for 2 full course days, the day of your arrival in Vienna and the day of your departure) = 733 euros.
EPICUR scholarships are awarded as non-repayable grants. Scholarship holders are free to choose their means of transport to the event, their accommodation and their meals. Proof of payment for expenses incurred is not required.
Applications for EPICUR scholarships are made at the same time as applications for EPICUR course places, and are dependent on successful admission to the course.
