Beschreibung
The group of Junior-Prof. Prescher is mainly interested in the physical and chemical properties of geologically relevant materials under high pressure and temperature conditions.
The here advertised position is envisioned to be working primarily on the time-resolved investigation of material response to ultra-short (<1 ns) laser and X-ray pulses in diamond cells at high pressures. Experiments will be mainly conducted at the European X-ray Free Electron Laser (Eu-XFEL) in Hamburg.
Prerequisites
We seek a highly motivated individual with keen interest in experimental work.
Applicants should hold a master’s degree or equivalent in Earth sciences, mineralogy, chemistry, physics, material sciences or a related field at the time of the appointment.
Experience in high pressure experimentation, X-ray diffraction, spectroscopic methods for material characterization is desirable but not required. Experience in using scripting languages such as Python or Matlab for the purpose of data analysis is desired but also not required. Good proficiency in English (written and spoken) and availability to travel are required.
