We are looking for a colleague with

  • A Master Degree in information science, nature science or engineering
  • ideally, a completed PhD in one of the above-mentioned fields or relevant experience in the above-mentioned areas of responsibility
  • Knowledge in the field of IT and coding are necessary, especially Python/ Django, nginx, SQL and containerization
  • Interest in working interdisciplinary in a constantly changing environment
  • first experience in agile management would be great
  • very good communication skills in English (written and oral), esp. in technical English.
  • the ability to think analytically and conceptually and enjoy collaborative work in an international and interdisciplinary team at the University of Freiburg and within NFDI-MatWerk.

Your Tasks:

  • You will support the NFDI- MatWerk Konsortium by finding groundbreaking solutions for the interoperability of the research in the field of material science and materials technology. For this you have a leading role as “Enabler” caring about the scientific-technological coordination.
  • You are the interface between our project management which is located at the Fraunhofer-Institut für Werkstoffmechanik and all the project activities around ontology. For this, you can answer all questions of understanding from all the different disciplines.
  • Based on your material scientific or natural scientific understanding, you can support us with the choice and semantic representation well-choosen topics of our discipline.
  • You help grounding ontology in our consortium by defining and setting goals and products.
  • You like to work proactive and to take responsibility in our NFDI- MatWerk Team.
  • As developer in the area of ontology you get involved in many different topics, for ex. Digital representation of materials, material states and material process’, the implementation of rights management of graph data base or the implementation decentralized Triple Stores
