Beschreibung
This Habilitation position will be filled with a researcher who has extensive experience and has published well in either Immunology or Synthetic Biology.
If you are fascinated by the adaptive immune system and if you are interested in the mechanisms controlling immunity or in engineering new tools to steer immune responses, you are the person we are looking for. We expect that you will build your own group with great enthusiasm, asking for own grants and participating in Freiburg’s research initiatives, such as the Signalling Research Centres BIOSS and CIBSS. In addition, you will be supervising postdoctoral researcher and graduate students, and teach Bachelor and Master students in the biology program. Knowledge of German is not required.
The group will be situated in the new Life Science building of the university (Signalhaus) and will have access to the animal (mouse), cell sorting, sequencing, proteomics and imaging facilities of the university.
The position is associated with the laboratory of Professor Wolfgang Schamel, who works on the early events of T cells activation and uses optogenetics to control T cell receptor activation. New knowledge is then translated into new therapy concepts for cancer immunotherapy.
The position requires a qualified Ph.D. or doctorate, several years of postdoctoral experience in academic research and publications in peer-reviewed journals. The candidate has to perform teaching duties of four course hours (4 LVS). Civil servant requirements must be fulfilled. The possibility of further qualification is given.
This position is initially limited to three years with the possibility of renewal up to a total of six years. The salary will be determined in accordance with A13.
We are particularly pleased to receive applications from women for the position advertised here.
