Description

The full-time position is open for a period of three years with possibility of a three-year renewal. The position provides the opportunity to obtain a „habilitation“. Starting date is 1 Nov 2022 or earliest possible thereafter.

We seek a highly motivated young scientist with goals and ideas for independent research that complements and expands the current research at the Chair of Environmental Hydrological Systems. Analysis und modelling of hydrological systems under global change are specifically of interest. Targeted hydrological system boundaries may include the climate system, ecosystems, human systems (incl. risk or water resources management) among others. We expect an active involvement in the activities of the chair group. Teaching duties are 4 SWS (ca. 2 courses or one course with practical component per term and advising of Bachelor and Master theses) primarily within the BSc Environmental Sciences (minor: environmental hydrology) and the MSc Hydrology.

Prerequisite for the position is a completed doctoral degree (PhD or equiv.), possibly some first postdoctoral experience. A university degree in hydrology, environmental sciences, geosciences, geoecology or related disciplines would be an ideal background for the position's teaching duties. Applicants are expected to have demonstrated their ability to work in science by high-level publications in hydrology or environmental sciences. Excellent English is a must; German language skills will be required for daily life and teaching of undergraduate courses in German will be expected after ca. one year. Candidates are expected to be independent, flexible, willing and able to work in a team, and should have demonstrated organisational skills.
