Post-doctoral Researcher (m/f/d) in Structural Biology and Design of Protein Nanopores

The Institute of Biochemistry and the Clusters4Future action nanodiagBW are recruiting a Post-doctoral Researcher (m/f/d) in Structural Biology and Design of Protein Nanopores
  • Application deadline: 30.09.2023
  • Publication date: 14.08.2023
  • Start-date: At the earliest possible date.
  • Fulltime position
  • Id no.: 00003259

Description

NanodiagBW is a research consortium with partners from academia and industry that uses nanopore technology for molecular diagnostics (https://www.hahn-schickard.de/en/nanodiag).

For the development of miniaturized analysis systems we employ protein nanopores to read epigenetic marks in high-throughput and at large scale and integrate the obtained data into comprehensive picture of individual disease states.

In the present project, the focus will be on the production, characterization and engineering of protein nanopores, their embedding in membrane environments and functional testing using state-of-the-art electrophysiology.

Your Profile

  • You are a proactive, enthusiastic researcher with a keen interest in membrane biochemistry, electrophysiology and structural biology.
  • You have (or are close to having) a doctorate in Biochemistry, Chemistry, Biology, or a related field.
  • You have profound knowledge of molecular life sciences, with a background in protein biochemistry and/or structural biology. Crystallography and cryo-EM skills are welcome.
  • You are experienced in programming (python, MATLAB, C++, etc.) and have an interest in data visualization and computer animation (Blender, Maya).
  • You are a team player, at ease when working in an international environment and a keen problem solver.
