Mentoring-Programm for Postdocs

The Mentoring Program aims to support highly qualified early-career researchers at the faculty who are in the postdoctoral phase, promote active career planning, and prepare them for leadership roles within the academic system.

The mentoring program consists of three components:

One-on-one mentoring

Here, the focus is on the personal relationship between mentee and mentor. The exchange is characterized by trust and a lack of hierarchy. Personal meetings between the mentoring pairs take place about one to three times per semester. During these meetings, the mentor supports the mentee with career-related questions and serves as a role model. This allows for the exchange of experiences from everyday professional life and enables the development of strategies for problem-solving and further career planning.

Peer Mentoring

In addition to the one-on-one exchanges, mentees meet regularly in a group setting to discuss topics, challenges, and difficulties on their own initiative and to share experiences.

Networking Meetings

Network meetings take place at irregular intervals. These serve as a forum for mutual exchange between mentees and mentors, as well as for addressing topics such as peer review procedures, science communication, or self-marketing.

Who can become a mentee?

All early-career researchers in the Faculty of Economics and Behavioural Sciences who are in the postdoctoral phase are eligible to participate in the program.

Who are the mentors?

The mentors are professors from the faculty who, through trusting conversations, share relevant practical knowledge and experience regarding the structures and processes of academic life.

How long does the program last?

The program is designed to last two years. You can join at any time.

How can I participate?

If you are interested, please contact the Dean’s Office of the Faculty of Economics and Behavioural Sciences. We will guide you through the process of establishing the mentoring relationship and facilitate contact between the mentee and mentor.
