Media

Media shape our daily lives, our society, and virtually every professional field. In the Media course area, you will learn how to act confidently and purposefully in the digital and media world. You acquire journalistic, technical, and artistic skills, produce your own content – for instance in audio, video, or online formats – and gain insight into professional fields like journalism, PR, film, and publishing. In addition, you grapple with topics like fake news, media ethics, and digital responsibility.

Our practice-oriented course formats encourage you to critically analyse and creatively engage with media and to experiment with new forms of expression – as a contribution to a responsible media society.

Moreover, collaborations with the Media Centre or the city magazine chilli give you direct insight into the work of professional editorial departments – and give you an opportunity to transform your own ideas into real projects.

The practical modules allow you to collaborate with the uniCROSS student editorial team or at the magazine chilli – das Freiburger Stadtmagazin. In this way, you gain valuable journalistic experience, publish your own media products, which can be very useful as work samples for job applications – and also earn ECTS credits just for your editorial work (2, 4, or 6 credits).
