Media Course Area Practical Module

Editorial work
Experience media work at first hand: from the initial idea to publication. In our practice modules in the Media course area, you combine journalistic skills with creative work and learn to develop content for various formats.
You investigate, write, film, cut, and design in the student editorial teams of uniCROSS or at the Freiburg city magazine chilli. In this way, you gain practical experience, publish your own content, strengthen your media competence – and can earn 2, 4, or 6 ECTS credits depending on the module (as a bachelor’s student, coursework for the BOK course area).

Cross-Media Journalism in Practice – Collaboration on an uniCROSS Project
The starting point is a journalistic topic with a relation to the University of Freiburg. In a project group, you develop goals, procedures, work steps, timeline, and workflows under guidance. These aspects and the mode of presentation are coordinated with the online editorial team, the radio editorial team of uniFM, and the uniTV editorial team.
You conduct surveys and interviews with a camera or microphone, cut quotes, shoot and cut film sequences, write journalistic texts, and design the online presentation. The cross-media result is published by uniCROSS.
