1. Registration process for the 2026 summer semester

(1) Foundations area and electives area (dedicated certificate courses)
You can register for courses in the foundations area and electives area (dedicated certificate courses)Tue., 07 April 2026 9 a.m. to Wed., 08 April 2026 11:59 p.m. on HISinOne.
It makes no difference when during this period you submit your registration request. You may cancel or change registration requests yourself at any time.
- In the foundations area, places are allocated upon the submission of registration requests (without prioritization).
- In the electives area (dedicated certificate courses), registration requests are submitted with priorities. The places are allocated in the order of submitted priorities. If the amount of requests of equal priority for a course exceeds the amount of places to be allocated, the free places are allocated randomly (time-independent lottery procedure).
Places in the courses are allocated by lottery on Thurs, 09 April 2026.
From Fri., 10 Oct. 2026, at 9 a.m. to three days before the respective course is to start, free places are allocated immediately upon submission of the registration request on a first come, first served basis: This means that you are admitted directly as long as there are still free places in the course. Deregistration is also effective immediately.
If no more places are free, you can have yourself placed on the waiting list. Students on the waiting list cannot be guaranteed participation in the respective course.
(2) Electives area (BOK courses)
All information, dates, and deadlines pertaining to registration for BOK courses are available here on the ZfS website. Please be sure to read the description of the BOK registration phases, as they differ from the registration periods and phases for courses in the foundations and elective areas (dedicated certificate courses).
The BOK courses available in the 2026 summer semester for the certificate programme are listed on HISinOne.
(3) Practical area
Project workshops
You can register for project workshops on HISinOne. You must submit a registration request with priorities. Places in the courses are allocated in accordance with the order of submitted priorities. If the amount of requests of equal priority for a course exceeds the amount of places to be allocated, the free places are allocated randomly (time-independent lottery procedure). The registration period for project workshops is the same period as that for the foundations and electives areas (dedicated certificate courses): It is possible from Tue., 7 April 2026 9 a.m. to Wed., 8 April 2026 11:59 p.m. on HISinOne. It makes no difference when during this period you submit your registration request. You may cancel or change registration requests yourself at any time.
Places in the project workshops are allocated by lottery on Thurs., 9 April 2026.

Service Learning

2. 2. Waiting list
If places in a fully-booked course become available, we notify students on the waiting list by email before the course starts. Please make sure your current email address is entered on your university account.
3. Deregistration
If you are no longer able to participate in a course, you are obligated to deregister from it.
Generally:
- You can deregister from a course on HISinOne up to three days before it starts. Deregistration is not possible on days on which a lottery takes place (see ‘Dates and deadlines’ above).
- After this or during the course it is only possible to deregister in exceptional cases for compelling reasons pertaining to your studies. Please send an email to abmeldung@zfs.uni-freiburg.de.
You can cancel your registration on the campus management system HISinOne by calling up the page of the course in question and selecting the option deregister/change registration. You must then confirm the deregistration in the newly loaded window. You can check your cancellation later under ‘My course and examination registrations’ in the ‘My studies’ menu. Deregistration is effective immediately.
