General Information

The Blütengarten daycare center (formerly Biolino) is a facility run by the Faculty of Biology under the auspices of the University of Freiburg. It enables employees of the Faculty of Biology to have their children from the age of eight weeks until they start kindergarten cared for all day close to their workplace.
Our facility is supported by the Ministry of Science, Research and the Arts as part of a funding program.

„The aim of the program is to expand childcare for children under the age of three of academic university staff in particular, adapted to the special working conditions at universities. Children of non-scientific staff can participate if their parents have comparable working conditions.“

By offering this demand-oriented childcare option, we want to promote the compatibility of family and career for academics (and other employees if they have comparable working conditions) and give women in particular the opportunity to remain competitive in the labor market.

As a one-group facility, we offer childcare for ten children. They are looked after all day by three specialist staff and two trainees.

The Blütengarten daycare center is located on the grounds of the Faculty of Biology in the old building of the institute, right next to the Botanical Garden. The childcare program with a focus on nature education enables children to gain a variety of learning experiences outdoors in nature from an early age.
