Student Joseph Oertel is dedicated to helping refugees

Alongside his medical studies, Joseph Oertel regularly volunteers to help people who are fleeing across the Mediterranean. In this interview he talks about what his commitment means in real terms and his experiences. Joseph tells us that his volunteering would be impossible without the support of his degree programme coordinators, seminar leaders and fellow students. He advises students who would also like to volunteer not to be put off by setbacks and to team up with like-minded people. Between assignments, he relaxes by getting out in the Black Forest.
