Teaching

Through teaching at the Chair of Environmental Planning and Transformation, we aim to stimulate students’ curiosity about sustainable ways of shaping nature and society, while providing guidance on environmental planning in terms of content and methodology. This includes teaching the conceptual foundations of environmental planning and familiarising students with environmental planning tools, methods and procedures. In addition, our teaching aims to strengthen students’ capacity for reflection and critical thinking with regard to the shaping of nature-society relationships and to help them acquire gender competence.

Bachelor- und Masterarbeiten

At the Chair of Environmental Planning and Transformation, theses are supervised by Prof. Dr. Tanja Mölders (Prof. Dr. Tanja Mölders — Chair of Environmental Planning and Transformation) and Dr. Anna Saave (Dr. Anna Saave — Chair of Environmental Planning and Transformation). The chair promotes an understanding of independent academic work, according to which the development of a question and objective as well as the elaboration of a methodological approach are important components of the qualification process. This process is accompanied and supported within the framework of the supervision of bachelor’s and master’s theses. Thematically, theses can be linked to the content of compulsory courses (in particular environmental and landscape planning and nature conservation concepts) and elective courses (including socio-ecological transformations, gender perspectives on space, planning and social relations with nature, social relations and economics, and the socio-ecological transformation of (political) economies). In addition, it is possible to combine qualification theses with research in ongoing third-party funded projects. We also welcome your own topic suggestions that are related to the teaching and research activities of the professorship.

Thesis colloquium

During the writing process, supervision takes place within the framework of a colloquium. All students currently writing a thesis at the chair meet once a month to present their ongoing process. Feedback is provided through a peer review process and by the supervising lecturer.
