Laboratory

Our Lab

Our newly equipped laboratory features state-of-the-art analytical and sample preparation techniques for determining inorganic major and trace elements, anions, and dissolved carbon in aqueous environmental samples. Following appropriate preparation, we also analyze soils, plant material, minerals, and animal tissue.

A key area of research focuses on the speciation of contaminants such as arsenic and antimony in liquid samples. This is complemented by our expertise in solid-phase speciation, which we conduct as part of collaborative projects or synchrotron projects.

Equipment

NexIon 5000 Multiquad ICP-MS/MS (PerkinElmer)


Equipped with four quadrupoles, the NexIon 5000 offers excellent interference suppression and high matrix tolerance for ultra-trace element analysis—even with challenging environmental samples.
Speciation analysis (As, Sb) coupled with NexSAR HPLC. Single-particle analysis.

NexSAR HPLC (PerkinElmer)


Determination of sulfur species, as well as coupling with ICP-MS for the analysis of organic species (with DAD) and inorganic elemental species.

Flame Atomic Absorption Spectroscopy (AAS vario 6; analytik jena)


Old but reliable: Determination of major elements (Na, Ca, K, Mg) and metals at the ppm level.

Ion chromatography (Dionex ICS-6000 HPIC System)


Determination of anions and up to 20 organic acids. Optimized for iron-rich samples.

TOC-L (Shimadzu)

Determination of TC, IC, TC-IC, and NPOC in liquid samples. TOC can be expanded with a solids module.

GENESYS 50 UV-VIS Spektralphotometer


Photometric determination of iron, sulfides, sulfate, phosphate & more in water. Alternative method for determining dissolved organic carbon and aromaticity.

Determination of carbonate in aqueous samples.
