How to register for field courses
Excursions will be announced on the Learning Management System ILIAS. They are usually updated at the beginning of each year (i.e. before the summer semester). You will receive an email reminder when registration opens, but feel free to check regularly, as the list of excursions may be updated throughout the year.
Costs for excursions
For field courses held outside the Freiburg area, students are typically responsible for covering a major part of their accommodation and travel costs. Exact amounts are communicated in advance on the Learning Management System ILIAS. For all mandatory excursions throughout the program, students can expect total costs of approximately 500 to 700 €.
Safety in the field
Your safety during excursions is our top priority! To ensure an enjoyable and safe experience, please keep the following key points in mind. Your excursion guides will provide more detailed information before the trip.
- Respect everyone and everything: Treat fellow students, staff, local hosts, and the environment with care. Follow local laws and customs.
- Some excursions may involve rough terrain – basic fitness and surefootedness are helpful.
- If you have any medical conditions that could affect your safety or others, please inform your group leader confidentially.
- Make sure your health insurance is valid. Check your vaccinations, and consider TBE protection- Baden-Württemberg is a tick-borne encephalitis risk area.
- Wear suitable clothing for all weather conditions- long pants, rain jacket, sun protection, and sturdy shoes. Bring enough water and food for the day.
