Research
As part of the project “Ground-nesting wild bees in flower strips and the influence of tillage on wild bee nests”, I analyse and compare wild bee communities in annual and perennial flower strips in agricultural landscapes. I am particularly interested in the influence of tillage measures such as ploughing on wild bees that nest in the ground. To this end, I am developing and testing suitable methods for locating nest sites and tracking foraging bees.
In addition to gaining ecological and methodological insights, I would like my work to enable the formulation of effective recommendations for action in politics and practice. The experience and local knowledge of the agricultural stakeholders involved in the project are of great value in this regard. To this end, I engage in exchanges both on site and in dialogue formats such as the Baden-Württemberg Agricultural Strategy Dialogue as a member of Working Group 4 (Challenges of Climate Change and Biodiversity).
