The XR Future Forests Lab conducts research on the following topics, among others:

• Automated data acquisition using drone overflights and laser scans (LiDAR).
• Algorithmic classification of trees, tree species and tree characteristics (e.g. size, age, health status) from LiDAR data.
• Creation and processing of digital twins of real forest areas.
• Visualization and modeling of digital forests in VR.
• Use of digital twins for training classification algorithms.
• Use of digital twins for forest management decisions.
• Forest experience in digital forests.
