Curriculum Vitae

Cornelia Pierstorff is a literary scholar interested in literature as a medium of social self-observation. They hold a PhD in Modern German Literature from the University of Zurich, with a dissertation on worldmaking in Wilhelm Raabe that combines narratology and fiction theory. After studying German Studies, History and Philosophy as well as Literary and Cultural Theory at the University of Tübingen and Uppsala, Sweden, Pierstorff worked as a Research and Teaching Assistant at the University of Zurich. They completed research stays at New York University, HU Berlin, LMU Munich, and the University of Hamburg. Pierstorff is currently a Senior Research and Teaching Associate in the German Department at the University of Zurich.
Pierstorff’s current book project examines sexual violence in German literature since the 1970s. Main areas of research include the sociology of literature, narratology, intermediality and rhetoric, and German literature from the 19th century to the present.
