Application Procedure
We’re delighted that you’re considering studying linguistics in Freiburg and we would be pleased to welcome you to the Department.
You can apply for a place in the Master’s programme Linguistics: Language, Communication and Cognition via the Albert-Ludwigs-Universität Freiburg’s campus management system (HISinOne).
You’ll first need to register in the system and then complete your application. The system will guide you through the application process.
Admission Requirements
To be admitted to the Master’s programme Linguistics: Language, Communication and Cognition, you must have completed a bachelor’s degree (or equivalent undergraduate qualification) in a linguistics or philology subject. Details are outlined in the Admissions Regulations.
The Admissions Committee will decide on your application. It usually meets at the end of July or beginning of August. After the committee has made its decision, you will receive an email informing you of the outcome of the selection meeting. Please note: this is an informal notification only — it does not count as an official admission letter.
The official admission letters, which you may need for visa applications, are issued solely by the Service Center Studium (SCS) of the University of Freiburg. The SCS aims to issue these official admission letters over the course of August.
We strongly recommend that international applicants inform themselves about the regulations that apply to them here and here.
