Apply to Join Our Research Group
Thank you for your interest in joining Prof. Dsoke’s research group.
Please read the application requirements carefully and submit all required documents by email >>
Bachelor or Master Student
Are you a Bachelor’s or Master’s student interested in research? We welcome motivated students who would like to complete their thesis or participate in research projects with our group. Send us an email, and we’ll let you know if any positions become available.
Requests for fully funded positions in our group
At present, we do not have funding available for additional fully funded PhD or postdoctoral positions and are unable to consider unsolicited applications for such positions. Any future openings will be announced on this website and through relevant institutional job portals. We encourage interested candidates to regularly check these platforms and apply for suitable advertised positions.
Applications for PhD and Postdoctoral Researchers via scholarships or fellowships (e.g., DAAD, Alexander von Humboldt fellowships and similar)
We regularly receive inquiries from prospective PhD candidates and postdoctoral researchers interested in joining our group via scholarship or fellowship support. We welcome applications from highly motivated candidates whose expertise and proposed research are closely aligned with our current activities in electrochemical energy storage.
Please note that we are only able to consider a limited number of unsolicited applications. Before contacting us, applicants should carefully review our research topics and recent publications and clearly explain how their proposed work would complement the group’s ongoing activities.
Required application documents
Unsolicited applications should be submitted as a complete package and include:
- a concise cover letter explaining the scientific fit with our group;
- a current CV. Complete transcripts of records for all university degrees, including the applicable grading scales and, where available, the applicant’s class rank; for an ongoing degree, the most recent transcript should be submitted.
- a complete publication list and the highlight on the three most important publications;
- a brief research concept of no more than one page;
- the intended starting date and expected duration;
- the exact funding programme and scheme (e.g. DAAD, Alexander von Humboldt Foundation or similar);
- the relevant application deadline;
- which documents or commitments are required from the host;
- whether personnel costs, consumables, travel and institutional costs are covered by the funding scheme; and
- the expected timeline for preparation and submission.
General requests for “DAAD support” or other fellowship support without identification of the specific programme and deadline cannot be assessed.
Assessment process
Applications are evaluated based on:
- scientific quality and originality;
- fit with the group’s current and planned research activities;
- the applicant’s qualifications and experience;
- feasibility of the proposed project;
- availability of supervision, laboratory capacity and funding; and
- sufficient preparation time before the relevant deadline.
Due to the high number of inquiries, incomplete applications and applications without a clear scientific fit may not receive an individual response. Candidates selected for further consideration will be contacted directly.
Scholarship and fellowship applications require sufficient time for scientific discussion, assessment of feasibility, and several rounds of proposal revision. A complete initial application package must therefore be submitted at least eight weeks before the relevant funding deadline. Requests received closer to the deadline cannot normally be considered. Please allow at least two weeks for the initial review of a complete application package. Submission within these timeframes does not imply a commitment to supervision, hosting or the provision of a letter of support.
