Collections

The Department of Ancient History holds a large numismatic collection and has access to a fascinating selection of original papyri through the Historical Collections of the University Library. Both collections serve as valuable resources for research and teaching, allowing students to engage directly with selected artifacts in various classes. Additionally, the department’s collaboration with the Institute of Archaeological Sciences (IAW) provides access to the archaeological collection, which includes numerous plaster casts and ancient originals.
