About
Astrid Möller studied Ancient and Modern History along with Classical Archaeology at the Freie Universität Berlin and the University of Oxford, earning her doctorate at FU Berlin. After holding various academic positions in Germany and abroad, she completed her habilitation at the University of Freiburg, where she has been teaching since 2004.
Since the 2014/15 winter semester, Astrid Möller has been serving as the Equal Opportunities Officer at the Faculty of Humanities. In addition, she has been supporting the Friedrich Naumann Foundation for Freedom as a a liaison officer from 2012 onwards.
Research
Astrid Möller’s current research focusses on ancient agriculture, particularly horticulture. Additionally, her work explores exchange relations, piracy, cultural contacts, and environmental history in the ancient Mediterranean.

Teaching
In her teaching, Astrid Möller covers a wide range of topics related to Greco-Roman antiquity in the first millennium BCE, with a focus on social, economic, and environmental history. She places particular emphasis on the fundamentals of historical research, methodologies for source analysis, and the role of ancient historiography as a means of self-reflection in historical inquiry.
