First semester introductory week “Bachelor” from October 12
The Biology Student Council invites all “first-year students” in the B.Sc. Biology and in the Polyvalent Two-Major Bachelor’s Programme Biology to the introductory week from October 12 to 16.
So you’ve struggled for years through school(s) and to a decision about what you want to study, filled out an application form and now you finally hold an admission letter in your hands. Now you are standing there and have no idea what to expect….
But don’t take it too hard, because we, the student council, are here to help you in word and deed! So that you are not completely disoriented during the first few weeks, we offer an introductory week with various events before the official start of lectures, as we do every year.

| Monday, Oct. 12, 2026 | Become a teacher 9:00 – 9:45: Info event for student teachers in the Paulussaal, Dreisamstraße 3 Welcome at the Biology From 9:30 a.m.: Coffee and cake to wake up and chat in front of the GHS (No. 1 on this map). Official welcome – What has to be, must be! 10:30 – 12:30: Information on the course of study and formalities; welcome by the student council Let’s go! 12:30 hrs: Campus tour incl. detour to the canteen Some relaxation is also important! 14:30: A cosy end to the first day in the Botanical Garden | |
| Tuesday, Oct. 13, 2026 | How do I register for courses? 13:30 – 14:30: Introduction to using the University’s online platforms | GHS, Biology II/III Off to the city centre…! From 15:00, start 15:30: Organic rally through the old town, meeting point: Mensa Garten, Rempartstraße! (So the one in the city centre) | |
| Wednesday, Oct. 14, 2026 | Do something good… 13:30 – 14:30: Information event organised by the Studierendenwerk (SWFR) and the Blood Donation Service What’s in bloom? 14:30 Guided tours through the Botanical Garden Before and after: Sale of gowns Are we drinking together? 19:30: Start of the pub crawl (meeting point in front of the Minster at 19:00) followed by a party. | |

| Friday, Oct. 16, 2026 | Freshers’ Day 2023 Welcome in the Europa Park Stadium. Here you can find out about opportunities to continue many of your hobbies in Freiburg or to do something other than bio at university. Almost all university groups present themselves here.
