Change of University
You want to continue a degree programme you started at another location at the Faculty of Biology and have your credits recognised.
Before applying
- Contact the Student advisor and submit the following documents
- Transcript of records containing the credits achieved so far (pdf)
- List of courses and credits, which are expected to be completed before the changeover (please just include this in the email)
- Module guide (pdf or Link) with details of content and acquired skills, scope (ECTS), composition (e.g. proportion of practical training, lectures, etc.) and type of examination
- You will receive feedback on whether and to what extent the services rendered can be recognised and whether a recommendation for classification into a higher semester can be issued.
- If you are classified in the second semester, you must apply via Campus Management by 15 January (for the summer semester) or 15 July (for the winter semester). If you are classified as being in your third or higher semester, the application deadline is extended to 30 March (for the summer semester) or 30 September (for the winter semester).
- You will receive a letter of acceptance or rejection directly via the application portal.
- Once you have been admitted, you can enrol by submitting the documents specified in your letter of admission (e.g. your placement recommendation).
The credits will be acknowledged in April or October. No separate application for recognition of the credits is required.
Change of Subject
You want to stay at the University of Freiburg, but change your subject/degree programme
Before applying
- Contact the Student advisor and submit the following documents

When classified into the second semester
- You must apply via Campus Management by 15 January (for the summer semester) or 15 July (for the winter semester).

When classified in the third or higher semesters
- You can transfer directly at the Students Office until 30 March (for the summer semester) or 30 September (for the winter semester). To do so, you will need the application form for changing your degree programme/subject and the placement recommendation.
The credits will be acknowledged in April or October. No separate application for recognition of the credits is required.
Stay abroad
You want to have credits recognised that you earned during your studies abroad.
After returning from the ERASMUS stay
Send the following documents to the 📧Erasmus coordinator at the Faculty of Biology.
- Transcript of Records of the University abroad (pdf)
- Please indicate which modules should be recognised (simply include this information in your e-mail).
After returning from another stay abroad
Send the following documents to the 📧programme coordinator at the Faculty of Biology
- the most recent Learning Agreement (LA) or recognition agreement approved by both parties
- Transcript of Records of the University abroad (pdf)
- Please indicate which modules should be recognised (simply include this information in your e-mail).
Provided that the grading systems are compatible, the grades will be transferred and included in the calculation of the module grades and the overall grade in accordance with the examination regulations. If the grading systems are not compatible, the grade will generally be calculated using the so-called ‘Bavarian formula’.
