The process descriptions of quality management in teaching and learning describe all procedures and processes of the Freiburg quality management system.
Assistance with the (re)design of module handbooks
A module handbook is created for all Bachelor’s and Master’s degree programmes. In addition to the description of the individual modules, it contains all the essential information that is important for prospective students, students, lecturers and credit transfer offices and that is required by the Study Accreditation Ordinance. You can find help on creating and amending module handbooks in the corresponding guidelines and in the completion guide.
Diversity in teaching
While diversity is increasing at all levels of the University, this trend is particularly strong among students and young teachers. Heterogeneous socialisation, differences in geographical origin and learning and teaching in non-native languages are examples of challenges in a positive sense. If learning environments are designed with these challenges in mind, the participants enrich each other with their skills and experiences. The area of gender and diversity provides teaching-relevant information, checklists and guidelines in this regard.
Public relations for teaching
Even if this may occasionally fade into the background in everyday teaching: teaching, just like research, is a topic for public relations work. Innovative event concepts, prizes for excellent teaching or externally funded teaching projects can and should be discussed, to name just a few examples. The point of contact for public relations work is the Office of University and Science Communications.
Internal Further and Continuing Education (IWB)
The University of Freiburg’s internal Further and Continuing Education offers a wide range of training options for all employees. In subject areas such as communication, leadership skills and languages, knowledge and skills are taught that are also important in and around teaching events.
Assistance and procedure in case of inappropriate conduct
Inappropriate conduct such as sexual harassment, stalking or discrimination is unfortunately a reality, even in an organisation like the University of Freiburg. The University offers counselling and support to those affected. The Equal Opportunities Office can help in case of sexual harassment and stalking, and a list of contact points for discrimination and abuse of power can be found on the Website of the Equity, Diversity and Academic Personnel Development Department.
