EPICUR Hubs begins on 8 April 2025

The European university alliance EPICUR is opening the first round of EPICUR Hubs on 8 April 2025. The kick-off event will focus on the topic of ‘Sustainable Transformation’. Invited are master’s students, early-career researchers, University members, and representatives from industry, politics, civil society, and research.
What are the EPICUR Hubs?
EPICUR Hubs are innovative, virtual centres for research-oriented learning, training and networking in an interdisciplinary setting. They are aimed at researchers, students and external stakeholders interested in interdisciplinary and international cooperation. In particular, master’s students aiming for an academic career and early-career researchers seeking to benefit from new opportunities for cooperation are invited to participate. The EPICUR Hubs provide a platform for participants to exchange knowledge, develop innovative research approaches and elaborate practice-oriented solutions to societal challenges.
The Hubs offer a mix of virtual and hybrid formats, including courses, workshops and conferences, to foster transnational collaboration. They specialise in four subject areas:
1. Sustainable Transformation
2. European Values
3. Global Health
4. Future Intelligence
The pilot programme “Sustainable Transformation Hub” will begin in 2025
The EPICUR Hubs will kick off in 2025 with the Sustainable Transformation Hub. A wide range of events and a virtual platform will be offered, including a research conference at the Karlsruhe Institute of Technology (KIT) in October 2025.
For the first time, EPICUR is also offering special EPICUR Hubs courses in addition to the regular courses. These are aimed particularly at master’s students and early-career researchers who are interested in sustainable transformation and transversal skills. Registration for these courses will be available soon.
Kick-Off-Event on 8 April 2025 – registration is open now
The kick-off event on 8 April 2025 will provide an introduction to the EPICUR hubs. In addition, Prof. Nicolaos Theodossiou will give a keynote speech on “Navigating transdisciplinary international research for Sustainability.” Participants can also expect a wide range of networking opportunities, as well as insights into research skills, funding opportunities and transnational cooperation options.
The event is geared towards master’s students, early-career researchers, professors, University staff and stakeholders from industry, government, civil society and non-University research institutions.
