Freiburg, 30/09/2024
A joint meeting of collaborative research centres and graduate schools funded by the German Research Foundation (DFG) devoted to highlighting the key significance of cardiovascular and kidney research in Germany will be held at the Kap Europa Congress Centre in Frankfurt am Main on 9 and 10 October 2024.
Fourteen DFG-funded collaborative research centres and graduate schools are joining forces in a joint initiative to advance the prevention and treatment of two of the most frequent causes of death in Germany: cardiovascular and kidney diseases.
A DFG-funded meeting on this topic will be held at the Kap Europa Congress Centre in Frankfurt am Main on 9 and 10 October 2024. More than 300 leading scientists are expected to attend. The University of Freiburg’s Faculty of Medicine will be represented by the collaborative research centres SFB 1425 ‘Heterocellular Nature of Cardiac Lesions’ and SFB 1453 ‘Nephrogenetik’.
The meeting will also bring together representatives from politics as well as the DFG to discuss strategies for raising awareness of the social burdens of cardiovascular and kidney diseases. Participants will explore approaches to preventing and treating these critical health problems. The aim of this collaboration between scientists and policymakers is to create a basis for developing solution strategies and putting them into practice.
