Leadership skills are becoming increasingly important – in academia and beyond. But what does good leadership actually mean and how do you develop the skills to become a successful leader? These are the questions addressed at the Postdoc Days 2025, organised by the Centre for Advanced Researcher Development and taking place from 8 to 10 April. Under the title ‘Shaping Tomorrow: Leadership in Academia and Beyond’, the event offers all postdocs at the University of Freiburg valuable insights, concrete strategies and a strong network for their next career moves.
The Postdoc Start Event on 8 April marks the Postdoc Days 2025 kick off. It is aimed at everyone who is currently starting the postdoc phase – whether they are new to the University of Freiburg or have already completed their doctorate here. They will receive important information about the postdoc phase, scientific career planning, and the offers and contact persons at the University of Freiburg.
On 9 April, Anne Hegemann will give the keynote lecture “Leadership Skills as Future Skills.” As an experienced expert in transformation, talent management and New Work, she will share insights and perspectives from the business world and show why leadership skills are becoming increasingly important as central future skills. A tour of the Digital Humanities Lab will round off the programme.
On 10 April, a panel of postdocs and professors from the University of Freiburg will discuss “The Importance of Leadership in Future Academia”. All postdocs are invited to actively participate in the debate and exchange ideas on this central question for the future of academia. The initial results of the central postdoc survey, which will be presented for the first time, will be used as a basis for the discussion.
The Postdoc Days 2025 will be held in English.
