Language certificates for the Polyvalent dual-major bachelor’s degree and the Master of Education (M.Ed.)
Please note that in some subjects with a Polyvalent dual-major bachelor’s degree or a Master of Education (M.Ed.) degree, knowledge of foreign languages is required, which you can prove by means of a German higher education entrance qualification (Abitur) in accordance with the requirements of the Handreichung zur RahmenVO-KM (Handbook on the FrameworkVO-KM). If this applies to you, then the following applies:
- Knowledge of a further foreign language can be proven through
- Language level B1 – 4 years of secondary education.
- Language level B2 – entire upper secondary school with baccalaureate* or designated level B2 (with at least a final grade of ‘sufficient’) on the baccalaureate certificate.
- Knowledge of Latin/Greek or basic knowledge can be proven through
- 2 years of secondary education or
- Proven A2 level (with at least a final grade of ‘sufficient’).
* This formulation is to be understood as meaning that the foreign language must have been taken in all school years up to the Abitur (G8: grades 10-12; G9 grades 11-13; BG: entrance class, year I and II; BOS: year I and II) and that the performance of the four half-years of year I and II together was assessed on average as at least ‘sufficient’ (G8, G9, BS) or ‘satisfactory’ (BOS). It is not necessary for students to choose this subject in the oral or written Abitur examination.
If you cannot/would not like to prove your foreign language skills through your Abitur certificate, then the University of Freiburg accepts the language certificates that you can find in the tabs of the preceding section.
