Before each semester, teachers dive into preparations for their upcoming courses. In the case of existing courses, this can involve revising the course to account for new developments in the topic, making conceptual changes on the basis of feedback, or trying out new teaching and learning formats. For the development of new courses, the methodological conception can be a challenge in addition to the focus on content, but it can also be an opportunity. Another aspect to consider in planning a new course is assessment concepts. For both existing and new courses, teachers can follow guiding principles of the University and benefit from support services.
Every course also offers opportunities for future-oriented teaching developments. Teachers can obtain formative feedback from students during the semester in order to be able to respond to student feedback at an early stage. To identify development potential for teaching and learning, courses should be summatively evaluated at the end of the semester. This can be done through central, anonymous evaluations with the Central Evaluation Service (ZES) and/or with dialogue-oriented feedback methods.
