The Psychotherapy Centre of the University of Freiburg offers one-off online therapy sessions for children, adolescents and parents.
The Psychotherapy Centre at the Chair of Clinical Psychology and Psychotherapy for Children and Adolescents at the University of Freiburg is launching several therapeutic-preventive online programmes that are specifically tailored to children, adolescents and families. The focus is on so-called single session interventions (SSI) – short-term therapies that provide targeted support and valuable impetus to patients in a single session. This format offers an alternative to traditional therapy approaches, especially when there are long waiting lists.
The new services are provided free of charge as part of research projects and are aimed at different target groups:
The ‘Courage’ project is aimed at parents whose children suffer from anxiety disorders. In one-on-one sessions, they receive practical tips and strategies to strengthen their parenting skills and support their children in dealing with their fears. The goal is to alleviate the stressful situation and make everyday life easier for the family.
Young people who face particular challenges due to discrimination or social exclusion can experience minority stress. In the ‘Strong’ project, they learn helpful techniques to better deal with emotional pressure and everyday stress.
The ‘OK’ project invites young people to take a critical look at their body image and develop a healthy attitude towards their body. The aim is to steer their view away from society’s pressure to be beautiful and to promote a positive, realistic attitude towards one’s own body.
All services are free of charge and designed to give participants valuable impulses and support in a single session: Interested parents and young people can find out more about how to participate and how the programme works on the website of the outpatient clinic for children, young people and families at the Psychotherapy Centre at the University of Freiburg.
