Research
Lena Riemann is a PhD candidate at the Chair of Forest and Environmental Policy at the University of Freiburg. In her doctoral research, she investigates how public communication on forest conservation and forest management can be more effective when tailored to specific target groups. Her work focuses on the “how” of communication—examining which factors contribute to its success in reaching and engaging diverse audiences. She takes an interdisciplinary approach, combining communication science, persuasion research, communication psychology, and environmental psychology. Her broader research interests include the communication of environmental issues in the context of socio-ecological transformation, with a thematic focus on forest-related topics and the bioeconomy. In the past and present she has done research on the bioeconomy transformation, including policy analysis, comparative analyses of national bioeconomy strategies and the role of policy framing in shaping public discourse.
