Teaching

Teaching at the Chair of Silviculture is primarily aimed at students on the Bachelor’s degree course in Forest Sciences and the Master’s degree courses in Forest Sciences and International Forestry. As part of the compulsory modules, students are introduced to the ecological principles of silviculture and applied silviculture. The content is not only taught in the classroom in lectures and seminars, but also in the forest in the form of excursions and exercises in small groups as well as in project studies. Other courses offered by the Chair of Silviculture deal with the adaptation of forests to climate change and their significance for climate change mitigation (carbon forestry) as well as the importance of integrated land use systems for achieving multiple forest management goals.
