The EGU General Assembly 2025 will bring together geoscientists from around the world for a conference covering all disciplines of Earth, planetary and space sciences. The EGU aims to provide a forum in which scientists, especially young researchers, can present their work and discuss their ideas with experts from all areas of the geosciences.
How have our forests reacted to the changed environmental conditions? How strong is their resilience? How do they react to the current situation with numerous stress factors? How can we further develop our monitoring systems? In search of answers to these questions, the aim of FORECOMON 2025 is to celebrate the 40th anniversary of ICP Forests and to present the evolution over time of air pollution, climate change and the responses of forest ecosystems.
EUROSOIL is the official conference of the European Confederation of Soil Science Societies (ECSSS). It is one of the most important soil science events in Europe and provides a fantastic opportunity for knowledge transfer within the soil science community.
You can look forward to a varied program with top-class lectures, exciting workshops and excursions that offer you the opportunity to discuss current research results and innovative approaches in soil science. Use this opportunity to get in touch with colleagues, gain new impulses and shape the perspectives of soil science together.
We would like to invite you to FoWiTa 2025 in Freiburg and the Black Forest. The University of Freiburg and the Forstliche Forschungs- und Versuchsanstalt are taking over the organization of this wonderful event this year. We are already looking forward to lively exchanges and discussions within and between science and practice and to interesting and eventful excursions. As part of the conference, the German Forest Science Award of the Eva-Mayr-Stihl Foundation will also be presented at the Historic Town Hall in Freiburg.
The joint colloquium of the Professorships of Hydrology, Environmental Meteorology, Soil Ecology and Environmental Hydrosystems will continue in the winter semester 2024/25 and will take place in KG 1 room HS1199, Thursdays from 16:15.
Microorganisms in the forest floor
November 19. – 20. 2024
Freiburg im Breisgau
What functions do microbes have in the forest soil? How can the diversity of microorganisms in it be determined? How does climate change jeopardize the forest soil microbiome and the ecosystem services it provides?
These and other questions were discussed by 50 participants at the conference on November 19/20, 2024 at the FVA in Freiburg. The event was part of the project “Relevance of the forest soil microbiome (WBMB) for nutrient cycles and influences of tree species and climate”, which the Chair of Soil Ecology has been working on for three years together with the Soil and Environment Department of the FVA-BW and the Chair of Soil Science at the Technical University of Munich.
